Phuket offers FantaSea, an enthralling theme park, located in Kamala Kathum. In 1998, it cost $100 million to build, today it would cost $1billion. The place is right out of Alf Layla, “One Thousand and One Nights”. It is an enchanting complex of charm, beauty, tradition and Thai culture. It has received too many times the “Best Attraction Award” in Thailand.
For your delectation, it is open, every day, from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. Kids and adults alike enjoy carnival rides, a makeup traditional Thai village, souvenir photo boots, multiple monuments, a shopping lane for handicrafts, t-shirts, ice cream, etc.
At 6:00 PM, the Golden Kinnaree Buffet Restaurant opens its door. It espouses the architectural lines of Ayutthaya, the Historical City. It seats 4,000 convives. The cuisine is mixed: Thai and international. Choices are large.
At 9:00 PM, the Palace of the Elephants stages a Las Vegas-like review titled Fantasy of a Kingdom. It lasts for 70 minutes. It is a fascinating fanfare of funambulists, elephants, tigers, lighting, decoration, pyrotechnics, as a panegyric of Thai history and identity. Funny and fascinating, the FantaSea show is highly educational. An experience for a lifetime.
Upon leaving Phuket International Airport, the sleepless group headed to town to exchange their dollars into Baht. Thereafter, they headed to Gems Gallery Phuket, a diamond factory, for an amazing tour and some shopping.
Before lunch, they enjoyed a superficial tour of Phuket’s main attractions. After lunch, at a traditional Thai restaurant, the travelers stopped, for an hour, at Chalong, for the traditional pictures, in front of Wat Chaitararam, the famous Buddhist temple, not too far from the Big Buddha on the mountain. They also paid a visit to the souvenir and clothing stalls that populate the area.
It was past 4:00 PM when most of them hit their bed at Angsana Laguna Phuket, in the Thalang District, right on Bang Tao Bay. The 399-room resort is one of the most celebrated in Southeast Asia; it is an undeniable Eden.
The place sprawls over 600 beachfront acres; you will easily get lost in there. It has everything: pools and beach, restaurants and ballroom, golf and massage, spa and yoga, suites on the lake, scrumptious breakfast, instant wi-fi, 40-inch TV, you name it… Staff and service are top-notch. Unbelievable resort!
A dozen of the travelers did not make it to FantaSea. Too bad. They were exhausted, numb with fatigue, their muscles replete with lactic acid, their eyelids weighing a ton. They chose to stay in bed at Angsana Laguna, in Eden. Wise choice?
